For more than the past year, I’ve published longer-form analysis here on Tuesdays on a fairly relentless weekly schedule.
As summer winds down and things continue to evolve behind the scenes, I’m going to be loosening that rhythm.
China This Week will continue every Friday for the foreseeable future. Its purpose has always been different: to track developments in real time, identify emerging governance signals, and watch for changes in the administrative terrain before their strategic consequences are fully visible.
The longer-form work serves a different purpose. Those pieces are where I develop, test, and apply the Governance Warfare framework against cases that warrant deeper treatment.
As more of my attention shifts toward applying this work in institutional settings, I’ve decided to make the longer-form publication schedule more selective.
That doesn’t mean the essays are disappearing. I have a long list of cases and questions I want to explore, and I hope to continue publishing them as time allows. But the calendar will no longer be deciding when a piece is ready or creating an obligation to publish something simply because another Tuesday has arrived.
So going forward, longer-form analysis will appear when there is something I think is worth the deeper treatment.
And there is more coming very soon.
Next Tuesday, I’ll publish a new piece on the Gulf: a closer look at why Saudi Arabia and the UAE have built very different institutional architectures while responding to many of the same strategic pressures.
After that, we’ll see where the terrain leads.
